On Friday, my friend Cathy and I decided to take out our bikes for a spin around the city and visit a few art galleries around the Quartier des Bains.
Unfortunately, most of the places we went to closed at 6pm so were only able to visit a few galleries. I wasn't able to take any pictures of the galleries near the MAMCO, but I recommend to pop in for a short viewing. Most of the galleries are just one large room and generally are free.
Disappointed after our gallery visits were cut short, Cathy and I decided to do some on-the-go research for an exposition open past normal closing hours.
Finding an exposition in Carouge, we ventured on our bikes again. Stopping to enjoy the adorable old buildings in Carouge and to stroll around on the bikes while watching the sunset.
Carouge is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Geneva. Last year I was lucky enough to live right by these beautiful streets and adorable buildings. What makes Carouge special is how you feel like you are living in a small village right next to the city center. The streets are lined with small family businesses and adorable shops and restaurants. It feels more residential than like city life, which makes me feel like I have the best of both in Geneva.
We ventured on our bikes again to find the exposition called Humanoides by Martin Gauthier.
It was a bit smaller than what we were expecting, but enjoyable nonetheless.
I liked the childish feel the artwork brought. Especially the paintings with the thinner lines and mixture of colors.
If you noticed in the photo above, Cathy actually is carrying her bike's basket. We had stopped by to buy a few things for dinner but we didn't have a bag. Cathy had the brilliant idea of just taking off the entire basket to just carry around with her while inside. What a clever little goof she is.
As it is autumn, Cathy whipped up a delicious batch of butternut squash soup.
With bruschetta and olives as an appetizer.
The meal was delicious, and Cathy was nice enough to let me steal her recipe to share with you later on. The perfect meal for an enjoyable friday evening before going out with friends.
