The leaves turn colors, the days grow chillier, and the comfy sweaters emerge from the bottom of the closet. Going apple picking is definitely one of my favorite fall pastimes to really get in to the October spirit.
A few friends and I decided to go apple picking in a small orchard in the country side in Collex Bossy. The orchard is called Domain de l'Orcy and visitors are free to pick as many apples as they please or buy the homemade apple cider.
The orchard is on an adorable little farm where you can view beautiful pastures, horses, and cows. What I would call real Swiss living.
Someone was really excited about seeing the horses! Pointing and smiling repeatedly "chevauuux!"
After enjoying the view, petting the animals, and taking in the crisp fall air we finally got to business.
Thomas and I were so glad that these two could spend the day with us. Apple picking really is the best when you are with great friends and family.
Funnily enough from the conversations I heard around the orchard, most of the other apple pickers were Americans. Our love of making the most of every season never fails!
To say the least, it was an afternoon well spent. Full of smiles, jokes, and great company.
After filling our box with dozens of apples, the fun was over and we walked back to the farm house with accomplishment.
The owner of the apple orchard weighed our box, only one franc per kilo!
But the experience was priceless.
We went back home to snuggle in a warm blanket, drink a steaming glass of coffee, and bake a delicious apple tart with our hand picked apples.
