Fondue, Fog and Chilly Fall Days

Thomas and I were invited by a good friend...ahem...Olivia persuaded a good friend to invite us to his humble abode in Epesses, a small village in the Lavaux wine region.

We were planning spending a relaxing day in my opinion one of the prettiest regions along Lake Geneva with fondue, a beautiful view, and a pleasant dip in a jacuzzi. However, the weather got the best of us.

And the day was a constant pour of rain and with a thick layer of fog. Look at the beautiful view! Oh wait...

But nevertheless the vineyards and mountains are still breathtakingly beautiful.

We made our way up the mountain to an adorable little café and restaurant near the Tour de Gourze. Unfortunately we didn't get to visit the tour because of the ferocious rain and fog. We were literally in a cloud. But apparently you get the most beautiful views from the top.

But the weather perfectly permitted the opportunity to order a warm fondue! Nothing's better than a delicious fondue with white wine and fresh bread.

After stuffing ourselves silly, we ventured into the storm hoping it may have let up a bit to enjoy the view of Lake Geneva. But no Mother Nature was not on our side that day.

Our friend is a local of Epesses, so he knows all the nooks and crannies. So on our way back down to the village I shouldn't have been so surprised when he asked us to stop to visit this abandon shack in the middle of no where... Ax murderer? Psychotic fortune teller? The Cookie Monster??

But no, it was a charming self-serviced market!

You enter, pick your goodies, and pay on your own!

Our friend bought us a delicious packet of caramels. Perfectly sweetened and flakes in your mouth with each bite.

Our friend's home has the most beautiful terrace with an amazing view over the vineyards and lake.

We had brought our swimsuits in hope to use the jacuzzi. But once again the weather crushed our plans. But look at that baby!

On our way back to Geneva, it stopped raining and we were finally able to see some blue of the lake and the mountains afar.

Just imagine if you lived in that house! What a lucky life you would lead.

We stopped by a restaurant to see the view. Unfortunately it was closed, but the terrace is beautiful! I'm keeping that address in mind!

Even the drive back home along the lake was breathtaking.

Every few hundred meters there's a new point of view on the lake and the surrounding cities that is utterly stunning. We had to stop again and look at the view. I love how the leaves are changing colors so quickly!
